He is having trouble with the microphone! This is from a very early PCRL Christmas show. Rankin' Bev (the last DJ before this PA) has left her mike on and the PA man strugles to turn John's mike up without feedback, still it brings out the backing harmonies nice - magic footage that I've just unearthed from PCRL's founder, Cecil Morris.

Brought on by Capt. Smiley, Anthony Henry from England's Saxon Sound International. Fast chatter on the dancehall scene for 20 years.
Trevor Hartley 'Home Sweet Home' (1991)
His biggest hit was 'Hooked On You' in 1988. In the 90's he worked for Mad Professor and Mafia & Fluxy.
Undivided Roots 'Your Love Is Something Unique' (1988)
These guys were so popular, like a reggae's answer to the Dramatics.
Vitality 'Only You' (1988)
Little known Lovers singer.
Vivian Jones 'Strong Love' (1990)
Vivian sang with the Doctor Birds in the 70's, went solo in 1980's. In 1988 he was acclaimed as the best reggae performer and won the award for four years running.

When Mickey first used guests on his Basement Soul show they were given 30 minutes each about 10 records. Later they were digitally mixed as eight guests in every show. A technical nightmare.

Pep is a well established Northern DJ & ran many soul nights all over the West Midlands with his late wife Helen. A popular night of theirs was the Black Horse in Wolverhampton - ran for 10 years! (now demolished).

Page launch day bio. I ran a month's worth of the original programs on the world-wide-web some years back. They all (366 episodes) ran on PCRL everyday at 8pm and repeated again at midnight for five years. Read by Brother Pilot & Sister Carol and made at Mickey's Studio 37.
