Olaudah Equiano

You may have noticed one of the faces in the background of the PCRL site over the years and wondered who it may be. Today I would like to remind those who know or may just have wondered, it is of course the gentleman in the above engraving that was nicely coloured-in for the 2008 exhibition that took place at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. I collected the pamphlets and postcards from my visit to the Museum and thought it might be nice to include them on the web-site. Note: All pages will enlarge if you click them.  The Equano Society web site is still running and can be found at www.equano.org

'Olaudah Equano The African' Frontispiece to his best seller 'The Interesting Narrative', first published in 1793 and is still available!

A rare photograph worth taking on the streets of Birmingham
